For those supporters who bought a copy of the match day programme against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, you will already be aware that the club will be unveiling a new crest in May.

There will be further sneak peaks of key elements of the new design in the upcoming match day programmes when Reading and Manchester United visit the JJB Stadium.

For those who did not see the open letter from Chief Executive Branda Spencer this weekend, here it is:

Dear Supporter,

We are delighted to announce that May 2008 will see the launch of a brand new crest for Wigan Athletic Football Club.

The new crest has been developed alongside a number of exciting new initiatives and will help us in working towards many of our targets for 2008/09 and beyond:

>> To celebrate the strides we have taken in reaching the
>> highest levels of English football
>> To create a lasting reminder of the club's
      history and traditions
>> To play a major part in our local community
>> To secure a unique symbol that is fully owned
      by the club
>> To attract world-class partners that share our ambitions
>> To unite everyone involved with Wigan Athletic
      under a reinvigorated brand
>> To spur us on to greater success in years to come

We have considered the comments and opinions of our supporters throughout the development process and we believe that the new design will be a symbol with which all supporters, young and old, can relate. Its introduction will mark the beginning of another new era for Wigan Athletic and we are looking forward to its launch with great anticipation.

The new crest is scheduled for release following the end of the current season, however more details will be released via local press, on www.wiganathletic.tv and in your official Latics matchday programme over the coming weeks.

Yours faithfully,

Brenda Spencer
Chief Executive
