CHARITY STATUS
Wigan Athletic Community Trust are now a registered charity.
Formally Wigan Athletic FITC will be known as "Wigan Athletic Community Trust".
The community scheme is a part of every day life at the football club, yet it remains separate financially. As a registered charity we rely upon course fees, a joint school and community fundraiser, sponsorship and funded initiatives.
Local companies wanting to support the community scheme and children in the area either financially or in kind are most welcome. For example sponsor one of our courses or schools programmes, sponsor a mini tournament in your locality, sponsor certificates and medals and of course encourage young people to frequently take part in Wigan Athletic Community Trust's events.
The scheme is also concerned with the overall development of both children and adults within the community, using football as a tool to improve their personal and social skills. Wigan Athletic Community Trust works very closely with Primary and Middle Schools throughout the borough, offering coaching sessions and joint fundraising events.
