Bertschin's boys go down fighting against Liverpool
LIVERPOOL 3
Spearing, Simon, Brouwer
LATICS 1
Kupisz
A young Latics team were unable to hold onto to a half-time lead given to them by the on-form Pole Tomasz Kupisz as Liverpool's second string secured a 13th straight win.
Kupisz, an attacking midfielder who can play as a striker, struck superbly after only four minutes, capitalizing on a defensive error by Daniel Ayala to race into the penalty area and finish with great confidence.
PICTURED RIGHT, Tomasz Kupisz, great finish
Latics did well to disrupt the all-conquering Reds during the rest of the first half but were stung three minutes into the second half, Andrea Simon wriggling free to nod home from close range.
Latics fought bravely to hold Liverpool, and their resolve was finally broken with just over 20 minutes left, Jay Spearing's free kick beating Neil Postlethwaite. Jordy Brouwer scored a third in the dying minutes.
To make matters worse for Latics, left back Jordan Mustoe was dismissed late on.
