Latics' dynamic new midfielder Michael Brown literally jumped onto the team bus directly after signing his three year deal at the JJB Stadium this afternoon and looks set to feature in some way oioin the game against Barnsley tonight, which kicks off at Oakweel at 7.30pm.

Brown said he was delighted to get the deal completed and was looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"This is an ambitious club keen to keep imporving," said Brown, "and having spoken to the manager and the chairman and looking at the strength of the playing squad, it's clear to see the club is moving in the right direction."

Latics boss Chris Hutchings has taken a strong squad to Barnsley, and said he was hoping to see the team pick up where they left off at Halifax on Saturday.

"The lads have showed great effort  so far," said "and although I expect Barnsley to be a big step up in quality from last weekend, I want the players to show professionalism and approach this game in the right way."
