Jason Koumas says Wigan win is in players' hands

Wales international Jason Koumas meets up with former manager Gary Megson on Sunday, and is under no illusions how fired up he will have his Bolton team.

But, he says, Wigan still have the quality to bag all three points and condemn Wanderers and former boss Megson to further relegation worries.

"Gary and me always got on well. He paid what was a lot of money in those days to take me from Tranmere to West Brom and I'm grateful he gave me that chance, because that has enabled me to be in the Premier League now at Wigan."

But he says there'll be no sentiment on the pitch.

"I know the sort of teams Gary moulds and they're always highly competitive. It's going to be tough on Sunday, no question about that, but I believe we can go out there and do the business."

Koumas has arguably put in his two best performances in a Latics shirt since earning a recall against Manchester City two matches ago and he says he is determined to keep hold of his place in the coming games.

"The next two months are massive for the club and I want to play my part. I think we've got the players who can go and perform on Sunday and get the three points but whatever happens it won't finish there. We need to remain consistent for the rest of the season."

Goals haven't been as easy to come by for Koumas for his club, whereas he has been rattling them in for his country, but he says, that doesn't concern him.

"We do play a different system for Wales, and although it would be great if I could chip in with one or two important goals, it's really about the team from now on. No one's more important than anyone else.

"The gaffer's got us playing as a unit, fighting for each other, and we'll be fired up on Sunday."
