Captain ruled out with injury

Steve Bruce has revealed that Mario Melchiot's season may have come to a premature end after the defender was substituted during the 0-0 with Reading.

The Dutch international was substituted during the first half and was replaced by Ryan Taylor.

Bruce said, "He has had a scan and I think that he is out for the final two games. He has a small abductor tear and he hurt himself out there on the pitch.

"I cannot see him playing the remainder of the season."
