Palacios: we believe we can win against United

Latics' mercurial new midfield maestro WILSON PALACIOS says he has enjoyed his first season in England, and hopes it is the first of many more to come.

And he has laughed about talk of a move away from Wigan.

"All I am interested in at the moment is in helping Wigan beat Manchester United on Sunday," he said.

"I have settled really well and I am happy here with Steve Bruce and Wigan. We have a fantastic team spirit, the club is moving in the right direction again and I am really loving it here.

"Steve has shown a lot of faith to bring me here from Birmingham, the Wigan fans have been fantastic to me and so far it is working out very well.

"I know how hard I have had to work to get myself to this position and the only thing I need to focus on is being consistent and playing to the best of my ability.

"Along with the whole team, there is only one thing in our minds, winning on Sunday.

"Training was quite low key at the beginning of the week, because we knew we were safe after the Aston Villa match and that was a tremendous achievement for everyone. But throughout the week, the intensity has grown day by day and now we're all itching to get out on the pitch and play.

SHOW WILLING - 'No Fear';  says Wilson

"We will be playing in one of the biggest games of the season as far as English football is concerned, and that is really exciting.

"I can only really speak for myself, but I know all my friends and family and all the people back home in Honduras will be watching the game and I want to put on a good show.

"They want to see one of their own performing in this match."

"We believe we can win, of course we do. Manchester United have world class players all over the pitch, so what? We are eleven against eleven, and most of our players are full internationals with a lot of experience.

"We had no fear when we played against Chelsea, so why should we go into this match with fear?"
