SCHARN LOOKS TO NEXT SEASON
The Player of the Year pays tribute to Latics supporters
After the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at the JJB Stadium, which saw the visitors crowned champions of the Barclays Premier League, defender Paul Scharner said he thought Latics were hard done by in some decisions by referee Steve Bennett.
The Austrian told Wigan World subscribers, "I think we did quite well in the first half especially, it was an open game and I think there was a bad decision from the referee and that changed the game.
"I thought Manchester United were very nervous at the beginning and we had some chances in both halves."
Latics had sold out all available seats in the JJB Stadium and Scharner was impressed with the support by the home fans.
He said, "It was an unbelievable atmosphere and I have to thank supporters for that, they supported us really well today and I am looking forward to next season, and if we can keep the stadium full then it will be a brilliant atmosphere here."
