The 31-year old signed for Latics on a two year in the summer of 2005 after arriving from Turkish club Genclerberligi.
The Australian international, who has 45 caps to his name, has also played for Croatian club Hajduk Split, and Belgian club Racing Genk before moving onto Turkey in 2003.
The versatile midfielder can play anywhere in the middle of the park, including both flanks, as well as behind the strikers or in more defensive position.
Skoko struggled to make an impact in his first season at the JJB Stadium, and made just five Premiership appearances and was loaned out to Championship club Stoke between February - May 2006. But he cemented his place in the centre of the park the following season as he ranked up 28 Premiership appearances.
