Born in Amsterdan to a Dutch father and Israeli mother, he was a mainstary in Holland's triumph in the UEFA 2006 and 2007 Under 21's Championships, having represented his country at every youth level and is held in extremely high regards in his homeland.
Club-wise, he moved from Ajax to Celta Vigo in the Spanish Primera League, appearing 20 times before then moving to Birmingham City last season and appearing ten times.
Ironically, he made an impressive debut for the Blues against Latics last November at St. Andrews, but was largely unused under McLeish.
