YOUTH RESULT: PORT VALE 0 LATICS 2
Wigan Athletic's Youth team continued their winning run by beating Port Vale 2-0 for the second time this season.
A goal in each half ensured the points came back to Wigan and it was another pleasing all round performance for David Lowe's side, who could have ran out far more comfortable winners.
SUPER MAC: Top Score Chris McCaughtrie
Striker and leading goal scorer Chris McCaughtrie broke the dead-lock on twenty five minutes after turning his man and slotting home a good finish. Sadly he was only to last another ten minutes as on thirty-five minutes he was forced to leave the field injured, replaced by substitute Dan Barrie.
In the second half it was super sub Dan Barrie who sealed the points on the hour mark with a superb, powerful strike, his first of the season.
DAN'S THE MAN: Dan Barrie's First Goal Sealed Win
In a great team performance Wigan Athletic Youth Manager David Lowe was quick to praise his players.
"Matty Hampson played well after returning from a 3-match suspension and I also must congratulate Aiden Kirkbride on his first league start in centre midfield who played well alongside John Routledge who was also outstanding"
GREAT SCOTT: McArdle impressive
"Right Back Scott McArdle was excellent, he gave a polished display and was good going forward"
